Therapy For Parenting throughout Ohio and Michigan

Healing bonds. Connecting families.

Parenting Tripp Niki Parker LLC

Parenting doesn’t have to wreck your relationships.

As you held that precious little one in your arms, you dreamed of the relationships that would be fostered as they aged. You cherished plans for the sibling bonds that would develop in your family. Where you once felt so confident, you’re now sinking into inadequacy as you question how it got to be this rough.

After losing countless hours of sleep while reading the excruciatingly tall stack of parenting books and listening to oversimplified podcasts (seemingly made for the supremely positive “Smith Family,”) you are drowning in uncertainty.

You see parts of your own upbringing repeating itself as you look into your child’s eyes, leaving both of you feeling broken and shattered. The emotional ups and downs have become too much to continue facing alone. You're tired of enduring this ongoing pain, knowing things could be better, if only you had the right tools and guidance to help your family thrive.

You’re tired of feeling caught in this cycle:

  • Making matters worse, you and your child’s other parent aren’t in sync, creating the stereotypical good cop/bad copy cycle. This turmoil is causing additional strain in your relationship. It’s hard to relax and focus on life when your own children keep getting in the middle.

  • Concentrating at work has become an impossible task. You’re left with minimal time and energy, often preoccupied with finding a solution. The interruptions come in the form of calls from your exhausted spouse, your child’s school, or messages directly from your kid, pulling you back into the emotional whirlwind you desperately need to break free from. You needed help a while ago. Now you’re ready to acknowledge it.

Healing Family Bonds

Whether you are just getting started in parenting, or your children are grown and already left home, it’s not too late to make changes. The long lasting bonds you develop are worth investing in. When you implement effective coping strategies, you’re able to establish stronger connections with your family, increasing your self worth, and your child's confidence to count on you for guidance in life.

As you alleviate stress and anxiety and adopt a balanced, healthy parenting approach, your overall well-being thrives. Open and effective communication nurtures your child's sense of peace and comfort, creating an ongoing cycle of positivity and harmony within your family.

By exploring the impact parenting has had, we will delve into effective methods for soothing your nervous system, and explore ways you can help your child do the same. We will evaluate diverse parenting styles and discern approaches that best suit your families needs. While some households choose to involve their child in sessions, others prefer working through real-life scenarios together and coming up with solutions in an individual session or as a parenting team. Through this process we will explore how to put your family on track to maximize peace and wellness for all.

Common questions about Parenting Therapy:

  • Following your first session of gathering pertinent information and goal setting, our work together will include exploring parenting styles, education and skill building, improving open communication, problem solving, and developing strategies to address your specific needs. Through support and encouragement, I will provide homework assignments to apply what is learned in session and bring your feedback and reflections to the following appointment.

  • The duration of parenting therapy and the frequency of sessions vary depending on the specific needs of the family. For most families, parenting therapy lasts for six months and sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Once a family feels confident in applying the skills learned, they may choose to schedule once monthly for ongoing support.

  • Not at all. Sometimes, for one reason or another, only one parent is a participant in therapy for parenting. Parents can work on their individual goals of improving the connection with their child. In parenting therapy, the focus is not solely on joint efforts. We will address the personal growth and development of each parent who desires to address change. This means that parents can enhance their individual skills, parenting strategies, and aspects of emotional health that contribute to their relationship with their child, ultimately leading to a more holistic and effective approach to parenting.

  • This is the beauty of Online therapy. You can connect from two different spaces as needed. Each person will receive valuable time to make their concerns known. As two committed parents, you may feel as if you are passing in the night and struggling to find the time and space to communicate. The focus here is on raising healthy kids, and that means prioritizing time to work on your parenting goals, even if it is in the middle of your work day.

  • I facilitate parenting therapy with parents of children of all ages. I offer the opportunity to include your child in session beginning at around age 10. This is dependent on the child’s maturity level as well as the parents’ readiness for problem solving.

  • Insurance coverage depends on the diagnosis issued by the therapist. While certain plans might include therapy for particular mental health disorders, when it comes to parenting therapy, a mental health diagnosis is often not assigned. The cost of your first appointment will be $200. Follow up appointments are $165.
